Who We Are
The Nida Institute is a collaborative community at the intersection of Scripture, language, and technology. We are named after Eugene A. Nida, whose work reshaped the theory and practice of Bible translation in service of the global Church. From the beginning, our work has been deeply rooted in Bible translation and a long-standing commitment to the majority world.
Building on Nida’s legacy, we bring together diverse disciplines to serve faithful, high-quality translation and Scripture engagement across cultures.
We are:
- Biblical scholars grounding our work in careful exegesis, theology, and the witness of the text.
- Greek and Hebrew experts attending closely to the languages of Scripture and their meaning in context.
- Linguists specializing in semantics, discourse, pragmatics, and how meaning works across cultures.
- Translation consultants walking alongside translation teams to support clarity, accuracy, and naturalness.
- Computer scientists building systems that scale insight, collaboration, and access.
- Data scientists developing methods to analyze, evaluate, and strengthen translation quality.
Together, we carry forward a tradition that treats translation not as a purely technical task but as a deeply human, cultural, and spiritual calling—serving the Church worldwide.
